Mariposa, California is one of the towns being honored with a celebratory stopover as the U.S. Capitol's Christmas Tree makes its way from the Six Rivers National Forest to Washington D.C. Our town's celebration will be held at 5087 State Highway 140 (The old Frost Shop lot). The tree will be led in by Santa and our very own Mountain Mrs. Claus. Mrs. Claus will MC the event which will feature a variety of community groups who will share the education of the tree itself, the tradition, whence it came, and more. We will also have performances by the MCHS band and children from MES will be singing. We will be incorporating some of the Native American history from Six Rivers and our own area as well. Part of the responsibility of the towns in which the tree stops is to water the tree to help it survive its long journey. The Mariposa Fire Department will be helping with that. In addition our local businesses have agreed to do some festive decorating for our EARLY Christmassy celebration for this event.
This event is free and we do hope you will be able to join us. Please check back as we will be adding information and please like our Facebook Event Page to get the most current updates to the event.
