Reverend Michelle McCarty
Your Mountain Mrs. Wedding Officiant
Michelle was raised in Redding, California. In school she was the lead in several plays and won first place in an acting competition. She is a Past Honored Queen of the International Order of Job's Daughters and placed in ritual competitions in her youth. She also placed in speech competitions in school and gave the address at her graduation ceremony. She has done college and community theatre as an adult. So public speaking is second nature to her.
She has raised three children. When they were younger she volunteered at their schools, ran the Book Fairs, and was thrilled to be in a couple of theatre productions with her children as actors as well. This whole family loves play acting and has participated in Harry Potter events, Pirate Festivals, International Jousting Competitions, Renaissance Pleasure Faires, and they were docents at the Sonora Celtic Faire for 11 years. They always attended these festivals in garb and took on the characters that they portrayed.
Michelle earned her BA in Spanish and teaches Spanish through Adult Education. She lived in Venezuela to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) to adult students there. She also taught ESL at her daughter's preschool in Venezuela. She is very comfortable with conducting ceremonies in Spanish or a mix of English and Spanish if that is what your family needs.
Michelle has regularly attended many protestant churches, studied at LDS seminary, and found her church home with The Church of Religious Science and Centers for Spiritual Awareness. With the other students in her World Religions College Course, participated in a Catholic Cathedral, Muslim Mosque, Hindu Temple, Buddhist Temple, Jewish Synagogue, and Universal Life Church. Her belief that the paths are many, but the Light is ONE is why the Universal Life Church is the best fit for her ordination. She has also done extensive study on Celtic Shamanism and has dabbled in Druidism. The result is that she is very comfortable embracing just about any ceremony that you may choose for your wedding. Each will be performed with love and respect and she is excited to explore new approaches.
Michelle and her son started Crafter's Countdown together. They worked to introduce a seasonal product that lead to the inception of Jessica Kringle, her Mrs. Claus character. Entering the Christmas performer community opened a whole new world for Michelle and she quickly became friends with Santas all over the world. It was her good friend (Santa & Reverend) Jim Beidle who introduced her to, and coached her in, the ins and outs of being a wedding officiant. Of all of the hats she wears, this is her favorite.
